Angela and five other artists are exhibiting in the magnificent Standen House in Sussex. Designed by Philip Webb, the house is one of the finest examples of Arts and Crafts workmanship, with Morris & Co. interiors creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Her eclectic mix of fellow artists are: Lorraine Gibby - jewellery, Fleur Grenier - pewter, Lara Sparks - embroidery and Elizabeth Welch - glass.
The title of the show comes from a lecture William Morris gave before the Birmingham Society of Arts and School of Design in 1880. It included the now-famous quote:
If you want a golden rule that will fit everybody, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
- William Morris
You will find much that is both both beautiful and useful.
National Trust members: free
Includes admission to the house and garden.
